Purpose & Context
Section 52.4 recognizes gender violence as sex discrimination and gives survivors a fee-shifting civil remedy against any responsible party, with a longer deadline than the ordinary injury limit.
Real-World Example
A survivor of a gender-motivated physical assault sues under § 52.4 within three years. Because the statute allows punitive damages and attorney’s fees, the survivor can pursue full accountability against the perpetrator and any other responsible party without a criminal conviction.
